A CONTEMPORARY VIEW
I remember when I was very young, and Walt himself hosted every Sunday night, his telling us of this new place he was building in Florida. I particularly remember the description and images of the ultra modern techniques and design being used to build the showcase resort of Walt Disney World, The Contemporary.
As a kid, still excited to some degree by toy dumptrucks, I was fascinated to watch as a giant crane lifted a completed room and inserted it into the side of the concrete A-frame that defined the building.
And in addition to that was the Grand Canyon Concourse, through which a real monorail would run!
I dreamed of someday actually seeing this place myself, and maybe even staying there; haven't done that yet, but I have certainly seen it many times now, and on one Saturday in June, I took the elevator to one of the upper floors to get some new pictures.

I haven't stayed at the Contemporary since my very FIRST WDW visit, 1976. This made me smile from ear to ear. Thanks for the pics!
A stay at the Contemporary still eludes me. I've visited many times though and love spending time there. This is a fantastic set of Contemp photos, Jud. I love them all!!
