I LOVE TREES

Great news!!! Last Sunday, I located a small pine tree, one just beginning, and in a bold daring move, I dug it up, (not quite good enough and did cut the roots, but had enough left that I had hope...) and then planted it in a spot where I wanted it, and set the hose to trickle it continuously. Well, this morning I looked closely, as its previously existing needles were drooping and I saw that there was new growth, new needles coming in!!! It's taking!!! Very exciting! I am very pleased!

And I have located three more baby trees, even younger than the one I moved, and now I dare to move those, and know more about how far out from the visible part I have to plunge the shovel!

I used to have several thick beautiful pines at the front edge of my un-cleared land and they all died and dropped in the big flood of several years ago, so I now have a chance to bring some of these beautiful trees back up to this side of the "wild lands"!

I registered to vote Monday for the first time in 30 years.

There is no question as to who: if it makes it easier, simply vote for Not-Bush.
A quick read/listen/look at the Palin/McCain campaign makes it perfectly clear what they stand for, what kind of "America" they will create...
Even Karl Rove has criticized the McCain campaign tactics...
Wow.
Tonight on the NBC Nightly News, another report showing Cindy McCain effectively lying and inciting hate against Obama- and getting just that, with more shouts for his death from the "enthusiastic" crowd.
From the Washington Post on Tuesday:
"Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the [Palin] crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
...
"But the campaign has reacted with recriminations and now Palin's rage. (the St. Petersburg Times reported that the Florida Republican Party chairman, after questioning Palin's aptitude, was told that he couldn't fly on her plane.)
"The angry GOP vice presidential nominee even found a way to blame the market decline on the yet-to-be-enacted tax policies of the yet-to-be-elected Obama.
"Palin also told those gathered that Obama doesn't like American soldiers. "He said that our troops in Afghanistan are just, quote, 'air-raiding villages and killing civilians,' " she said, drawing boos from a crowd that had not been told Obama was actually appealing for more troops in Afghanistan.
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience."
Full story: Washington Post (italics mine)
Ya, I have known people like that all my life, but in the society in which I grew up, they kept silent in appropriate shame of their hateful views, not shouted them out to cheers at Presidential political rallies- as a member of the audience or as a candidate.
