Happy Independence Day!

Being from Boston, where we started the whole thing, including the big party with the Pops, thank you Arthur Fiedler and still have the best show, to be broadcast tonight on CBS hosted by Craig Ferguson who is a treat in himself, and featuring John Mellencamp. I will, as usual be sitting comfortably at home watching that show once again. I did attend it live a few times, and it is not for the faint of heart! Think of it as Woodstock without the drugs, sex, and... well, they do have Rock n' Roll now... and in the middle of the big city! But, live or televised, a good time!

I do remember better though one particular 4th of July. I was on the road at that particular time was “living” on Cocoa Beach! It was 1976, the Bicentennial, and the only official celebration of the special anniversary was at Kennedy Space Center. Full details are in my big woodcarving book, and that was a really good time! I remember watching sea turtles make their way back to the ocean after laying their eggs up on the beach about 3am, and eating apples and cheese.

A few weeks ago, I found a lapel pin at a local flea market: no one knew what it was...

And yesterday, I received a movie from a friend. I watched it last night and talk about timing! You have most likely never heard of this movie, but if you are “Proud to be an American”, you should see it: it is quite possibly one of the most important and patriotic things you will ever do. It was released in 2006 and is by Aaron Russo, producer of such movies as “Rude Awakening”, “Wise Guys”, “Trading Places”, and “The Rose”. He also won an Emmy in 1978.

The movie is: “America: From Freedom to Fascism”.

It is a documentary, but still very entertaining and incredibly fascinating. It exposes the deliberate and anti-constitutional perversion of the wealth of America by a specific few; the illegality of income and other personal taxes (as so declared many times by the Supreme Court); the erosion of the rights and liberties of the American citizen “for his own good”; a possible alternative explanation for the war in Iraq, and other wars (“Some American soldiers will have to kill and die for this”); and some alarming notices of things already underway by (unconstitutional) Presidential Executive Order and a “rubber stamp” Congress.

Have you been implanted with your locator/data chip yet?

Happy Independence Day- You will have it as long as you defend it.
